Free Trezor Model One for 300 CoinGecko Candies: terms and catches

CoinGecko is giving away a Trezor Model One hardware wallet for 300 Candies, but only in Europe. How to claim it, what the terms say and how to avoid a fake.

Free Trezor Model One for 300 CoinGecko Candies: terms and catches

CoinGecko has a new candy reward: a Trezor Model One hardware wallet. It’s listed as “Free Trezor Model One Hardware Wallet, EU Only”. The reward costs 300 CoinGecko Candies, and on November 3, 2026 the page showed 219 left in stock.

Here’s how to get it, what the terms say and what to know about the device itself.

What Candies are and where to get them

CoinGecko Candy is the site’s loyalty program. You earn candies by checking in every day: on the website, open the candy jar next to your profile; in the app, tap the jar icon. According to CoinGecko’s help center, consecutive daily check-ins earn more candies. It doesn’t say how many.

You can trade candies for rewards in the store. Some rewards are limited in number, so the help center advises not to wait.

How to claim the Trezor

Based on the reward page and CoinGecko’s help center, the steps are:

  1. Sign in to CoinGecko and collect 300 candies.
  2. Open the rewards section, find Free Trezor Model One Hardware Wallet, EU Only and click Redeem Now.
  3. The reward shows up under My Rewards.
  4. Next, as the reward page says, click Use Now to apply it on the merchant’s site. That’s where you arrange delivery.

Make sure the checkout is on Trezor’s official site (trezor.io) and not a look-alike address.

Terms

What the reward page says:

  • one claim per user;
  • shipping only within Europe, excluding the UK;
  • Trezor’s Terms of Use apply.

What the page does not say: how long the reward is available, how much shipping costs, or which countries count. You’ll need to check that at checkout.

If you’re not in Europe

This is the main catch. Shipping is only within Europe, and Ukraine isn’t named in the terms. Some people solve this with the address of relatives or friends in Europe. The terms on the page don’t forbid it, but they don’t allow it either. So before spending your candies, check Trezor’s rules at the checkout step.

If the parcel passes through other people, check the seals when you receive it: according to Trezor’s instructions, the box has two silver holographic seals and a thin plastic wrap, and they should be intact.

What the device is

Trezor Model One is one of the best-known hardware wallets. It keeps your keys offline, and you confirm transactions with buttons on the device itself. According to Trezor’s page:

  • 0.96” OLED screen, micro USB connection;
  • a 24-word recovery seed as the standard setup;
  • works with the Trezor Suite app and third-party wallets;
  • open-source design.

Now the downside: Model One is discontinued. Trezor stopped selling it in its own store on January 8, 2026. Maintenance is promised until at least 2031 and critical security fixes until at least 2036, so the device works and is supported. But on Trezor’s page, the Secure Element chip is listed only for the newer Safe 3, not for Model One. That’s fine for small amounts; for larger ones, look at newer models.

How to avoid a fake

Hardware wallets have their own kind of scam: a tampered device. What Trezor’s official guide says:

  • The device arrives without firmware. You install it yourself during setup. If firmware is already there, don’t use the device.
  • The recovery seed is generated during setup. If the box has a card with words already written on it, it’s a scam. Don’t use that device.
  • Never photograph or type up your recovery seed, and don’t enter it anywhere except on the device when it asks.
  • If the screen shows a warning or an error, stop and contact Trezor Support.

Do you need a hardware wallet

If you only have a few dozen dollars of crypto on an exchange, you don’t need a cold wallet. It makes sense when the amounts are noticeable and you plan to hold for a long time. How it differs from regular wallets and exchanges is covered in hot vs cold wallets.

And if you just want a wallet inside Telegram, see what Walt is. That’s a different type: the company holds the keys there.

FAQ

Is the Trezor really free?

Not in money: the reward costs 300 CoinGecko Candies, which you earn by visiting the site or app daily. The reward page doesn't say how much shipping costs.

How many are left?

On November 3, 2026 the page showed 219 rewards left. The stock is limited and shrinking, so check the number on the page itself.

Can I get it in Ukraine or Russia?

According to the terms, shipping is only within Europe, excluding the UK. The page gives no list of countries and doesn't name Ukraine or Russia. Some people consider using the address of relatives or friends in Europe, but the terms don't say whether Trezor allows that: check the rules at checkout.

Do CoinGecko Candies expire?

We found nothing about candy expiry in CoinGecko's help center. If you're saving up for the reward, it's better not to wait.

Is it safe to accept a hardware wallet as a gift?

Yes, as long as it's sealed, you set it up yourself and you write down the seed phrase yourself. A recovery seed already in the box, or a device with a broken seal, is a reason not to use it.
